Scientific Advisory Team Announced

As our understanding of Mitchell Syndrome has grown and more patients have been identified, we are increasingly dependent on (and grateful for) the expertise of doctors and researchers who help guide the way. Our team of Scientific Advisors assists the Foundation Board in setting priorities and communicating complicated scientific jargon to confused families. Each of these advisors has a personal connection to the discovery of Mitchell Syndrome, and remains invested in the fight for greater awareness and possible treatments. Not only would the Foundation not exist without their assistance, but Mitchell Syndrome would, in all likelihood, remain a mysterious and undiagnosed illness.

The team includes Dr. Robert Bucelli, who was Mitchell Herndon’s adult neurologist at Barnes Hospital the end of his life, Dr. Tiphanie Vogel, who was his rheumatologist at Washington University School of Medicine and helped him get accepted to the Undiagnosed Diseases Network (UDN), Dr. Hugo Bellen, who runs the research lab at Baylor College of Medicine in coordination with the UDN, and Dr. Hyunglok Chung, whose expertise in fly experimentation was key in first identifying Mitchell Syndrome.
